why do people hate them
The other day, my dad and I were like, home, alone. And he, was like, going for a rabbit shoot. I felt really bad. But what really ripped my undies, is when he, like, asked me to help him clean up the massacred bodies of the poor defenceless creatures. It made me feel really sad. And I just felt like crying. There was this one rabbit. I called it Gerald. He was an albino bunny. His fur was like snow in the summer, and his eyes were like those of Jesus. They were so pure, and red. And all I could do was watch as his little tail twitched for the last godforsaken time. But then there was Rabid. He had rabies, and was rabid. He was all frothing at the mouth, and his fur was caked in mud and shit, but Rabid had a more internal beauty, the red of his blood pouring out on to the dirt, the grey of his grey matter splattering the trees in the orchard. This made me think about how we live in a world where the only thing anyone cares about is what we are on the outside, and not on the inside. This really made me feel hurt, and all I could do was sit in my room and cry to myself, and pray for Gerald and Rabid. My dad didn’t understand, and just told me to get over it and eat some rabbit for dinner. That is all.

ok welll basically cause emos are fag cutters who where pants way tooo tight (i know emos with tight pants *they scare me* and obiously the guys missed their writs and cut off there balls cause with pants thet tight we should all be able to see the outline perfectly well and yet we dont) cry WAY too much (bi the way guys should not cry and the only time a man should say i need a hug is when he is choking or high/drunk) have severe problems are suicidal need help and basically people call it that because it is sooo effing ludicris that if they had been around a century ago hitler would have left the jews alone and gone after them but hes dead and the government (george bush sacred leader) wont let us do our jobs as normal citizens and get rid of you EMOtional people so we just make fun of u instead see didnt that clear things up for u *smiley face*

They are fags. In all utter sense of the word, they are fags. Understand that, that is as complex as it gets.
Emo is a current fad amongst many teenagers. That is part of the humor of this site. The actress (Crista Flanagan) and writers (Kent Nichols and Douglas Sarine) are aware that Emo is currently only a pop-culture fad and are trying to make fun of it. Much like people in the 1970s made fun of punk-rockers or hippies. It is all part of humor of the site, which is known as:
**satire**.
Emo stands for Emotional Punk Rock, a.k.a. "Emocore".
This type of person is labeled due to the music which they listen to; the type of music tends to define a person's dress and emotional state. Emotional punk rock is a sub-genre of hardcore rock, or "industrial" rock, such as bands like Ministry, Skinny Puppy, or Ian MacKaye. This music grew out of the gothic/hardcore music scene, which began in the 1970's. This explains the type of punk-rock and creepy image dress which the character Hope is wearing.
Emo music was an underground music, or "Indy" type of music, which devolved in Washington, D.C. during the late 1980's, grew in the 1990's across America, and is now in the more "mainstream" places. By "mainstream", I mean that you can now go to an Emo nightclub or popular location and listen to bands which specialize in Emo music. During the 1990's or late 80s, you had to ask around and often found Emo music at late-night rave parties or such.
The term Emo was derived from the fact that, on occasion, members of a band would become spontaneously and strongly emotional during performances. In addition, the type of music is very emotional driven - it often forgoes structure and rhythm for an expression in the song. This is considered the “art” of the music. For example, if the artist wishes to express passion, then the song maybe very fast with a lot of hard beats and heavy sounds. If the artist wishes to express pain or sadness, the song would be a very slow punk song with several changes in the cords (sort of like Rancid). Thus, it creates very bad music…but a strong message in the song.
People really do not hate Emos - the people who listen to emotional music just tend to be very "emotional" themselves. It is all part of the sub-culture. You listen to dark, depressing music which sings about how life is dark, dress in dark clothing and you act depress even through you are not. It is all part of the act which the sub-culture creates around them. Thus, “Emo” no longer refers to the music, but the culture which was inspired by the music.
One has to understand that you get out of life what you put into life. So if you at like everyone is trying to hate you, then people tend to see you in a very negative way and will come to dislike/distrust you, even if they do not "hate" you.
As a former Emo myself (I went through high school in the late 90s, and attended many of the underground Emo parties in Colorado), I can do nothing but laugh at this site as it just reminds me of how sad I lived my own high school experience. I am 26 with a MA now, but still keep some of the photos of my past Emo-ness on a Myspace site.
Maybe I'll even post a pic of my Emo days if I feel like it. But Hope's outfits are close.

Chai! Release your inner Emo.
Emotional people aren't feeling bad at all? Yeah right. I used to be depressed and sad all the time and that's how I became emo. I never cut myself or tryed suicide. I'm emo because I was sad inside and I wanted something so bad that I was in emotional destress. This hopeisemo thing is not funny at all and is a serious problem developing in alot of teens these days including myself at one time. The thing is people don't understand that certain peop;e can't control there feelings and they just break down and get in a realy sad state like I used to. I had depressionwith not having a girlfriend and now I'm fine. People just don't understand how much mental pain is indured within a persons brain that can't handle that sad state of mind. People need to start caring, I know I do and I would give anything to help a teen today with a serious depressionate state problem.
I am me, and you are you, lets leave it at that.
You do realize that teenagers today would be a lot less emotional if they actually got outside and did something, rather than sit in a chair all day watching a computer screen as they allow the "fun times" of their youth get wasted, right?
Ah...I remember back when we started the whole goth/emo revolution...and ya know what? We have the sense to sit back and laugh at ourselves in just such a way.

WOW.. You honestly don't know why it's called emo? Well emo branches from EMOTIONAL as in strongly emotional/depressed. People hate emos because they are stupid. All they do is cry or cut themselves. There is no good reason to act like that. They all want to be so 'individual' but they all look the same. I respect that they have issues but... they really should get help or get over themselves. that is all i have to say about that.
